Timing & Protocol Fundamentals
When to take what, why timing matters, and how to structure multi-compound peptide protocols for optimal results.
Why Timing Matters
Peptide timing isn't arbitrary - it's based on:
- Half-life: How long the compound remains active
- Food interactions: Some peptides are affected by insulin/glucose
- Natural rhythms: Aligning with circadian hormone patterns
- Synergistic timing: When to combine compounds for maximum effect
GH Secretagogues: The Fasted Rule
Growth hormone releasing peptides (GHRPs) and GHRH analogs have strict timing requirements:
Critical: Fasted Administration
- No food for 2+ hours before injection
- No food for 20-30 minutes after injection
- Carbs and fats blunt GH release significantly
- Protein has less impact but still best avoided
Optimal GH Peptide Timing Windows
| Window | Why It Works | Compounds |
|---|---|---|
| Morning (fasted) | Natural cortisol awakening response, extended overnight fast | Ipamorelin, CJC-1295, GHRP-2/6 |
| Pre-workout (fasted) | GH supports performance, fasted training window | Ipamorelin, CJC-1295 |
| Before bed | Aligns with natural GH pulse during sleep | All GH peptides, MK-677 |
Healing Peptides: Flexible Timing
BPC-157 and TB-500 have more flexible timing requirements:
- BPC-157: Can be taken with or without food. Twice daily dosing (AM/PM) is common due to short half-life.
- TB-500: Long half-life (~8 days) means timing within the day doesn't matter much. Weekly or twice-weekly dosing.
- GHK-Cu: Flexible timing for injection. Topical application anytime.
GLP-1 Agonists: Weekly Consistency
Semaglutide and Tirzepatide have simple timing rules:
- Once weekly injection
- Same day each week (consistency matters more than specific day)
- Time of day is flexible
- Can be taken with or without food
Building a Multi-Compound Schedule
Example: Healing + GH Stack
Compounds: BPC-157, TB-500, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295
| Morning (fasted) | Ipamorelin 200mcg + CJC-1295 100mcg + BPC-157 250mcg |
| Evening | BPC-157 250mcg |
| Before bed (fasted) | Ipamorelin 200mcg + CJC-1295 100mcg |
| 2x weekly | TB-500 2.5mg |
Protocol Duration
Different compounds have different recommended cycle lengths:
- BPC-157: 4-8 weeks typically, can extend if needed
- TB-500: 4-6 week loading, then maintenance
- GH Secretagogues: 3-6 months common, some run indefinitely with breaks
- GLP-1 Agonists: Long-term use is typical
- MK-677: Often run 3-6 months with breaks to prevent desensitization
Common Timing Mistakes
- Eating too soon after GH peptides - Wait at least 20-30 minutes
- Taking GH peptides with meals - Insulin spikes blunt GH release
- Inconsistent weekly dosing - GLP-1s work best on consistent schedule
- Too many injection times - Consolidate where possible for adherence
- Ignoring half-lives - Short half-life peptides need more frequent dosing
